The Harvest

This was the congratulatory hug at the end of Laynee's cross country meet on Saturday.  She held her position as 3rd place on her team and her team came in second overall.  She did great against a much larger field and a tougher longer course.
Looks like she's trying to keep her food down...our motto is, "If you don't throw-up, you didn't run hard enough."
This is the support group waiting for the varsity boys to come down the final stretch.
 And the whole team

It's harvest time.  Here's the crew snapping beans.

Time to break out the Happy Dance!

I went on a camp out with Drew's 11 year old scout troop up to Kolob Reservoir.  There were 13 boys and 5 adults and a lot of beautiful mountain scenery.
Drew was part of the dinner-cooking-crew.  The dinner menu consisted of Ramen noodles, strawberries, and carrots...and I think I even heard one of the boys say it was a "perfect dinner"?
This is part of the Polar Bear Club.  Kolob res wasn't too cold, but they were definitely running for the campfire afterward.
This is what morning looks like at scout camp outs.  Donuts for breakfast, fire for warmth, and no care for hygiene.
Sorry it's not a good picture, but this is Laynee on the starting line only seconds before the gun went off at her cross country meet at Hurricane on Saturday morning.  I was so proud of my little freshman running varsity that I nearly cried.  She killed it - she took 13th overall (against the entire region), 3rd place on her team, and PR'd by two minutes with a 6:40 min/mile pace.
 Garden update
We raced up to Bountiful to help Lauri celebrate her 30th birthday.  We had a great BBQ at Traci's house.  Don't be distracted by Lauri - Molly is the hi-lite of this photo.
 Three cheers for Lauri!
And then it was off to Ogden for A-capella-stock
It was year number 3 for me and Shana and we thought Laynee would enjoy it, so we brought her along.  It was another amazing show - Nota completely stole the show.  They were amazing. I would definitely pay to see them again.
Music and the Spoken Word...episode number 4, 387.
Part of Laynee's cross country running uniform...we really don't get it???
Break Out The Happy Dance!  School Is Back In Session!
Drew- 6th grade at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate
Laynee - Freshman at Desert Hills Middle
Seth - 3rd grade Little Valley Elementary
Jack - 1st grade Little Valley Elementary
And now that Jack is in 1st grade and in school all day - Shana doesn't know what to do with her time. Time to get a job.

Boys of Summer Continued...

This weekend found us once again at Hotel Young while attending another of Drew's soccer tournaments...the Sparta Cup.  Shana headed up on Thursday afternoon with the whole crew minus me.  I worked my Thursday and Friday and stay tuned to cell phone updates from Shana to see if Fire FC was going to make it out of pool-play into the semi-finals and warrant a trip up north for myself.
With the help of a $100 voucher from Sky West, I flew up to the SLC on Friday evening after getting the go ahead from Shana.  The boys squeaked into the semi-finals which pitted them against their upstate rivals La Roca.  This was a hard fought game which ended in a 1-1 tie.  They played 10 minutes of scoreless overtime and then went into PK's.  This pic is of the teams lined up taking turns against the goal keepers.  We came out on top after 6 attempts each.
We stopped in a Kneaders for a light lunch...nothing too heavy, the finals were just a couple hours later.
The boys played Surf (who had beat them 3-2 on Friday), but with one simple adjustment (Drew and Danny glued themselves to their ultra-speedy forward from Haiti and basically took him out of the game) we came out on top 1-0.
 Sparta Cup Champions!
 Strong work boys
 Good friends, good kids.

I took the kids to run an errand on Sunday at my work, and for fun, we explored the roof of my office. They thought it was awesome, but it was sure bright.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A few weeks ago, I scratched off this Tuesday with intentions to see if I could get passes for the Subway... and for the 3rd time this summer - REJECTED.
So instead of hiking the Left Fork of the North Creek, Drew and I hiked the Right Fork of the North Creek.
We hiked hard all day, came home exhausted and had a great time together.
This was a little hitch hiker I picked up along the way.

Boys of Summer

If this doesn't scream, "I LOVE BASEBALL!" then I just don't know what does.
We were back in Cedar for another tourney this weekend and logged our first WINS.  For the record, Seth took one pitch to the fence for a triple...and I still don't think he smiled.
Summer hair...but not for long.
