Wells family tradition...in the making

I remember making an annual trip to the SLC every holiday season to see the lights at Temple Square and polish off whatever Christmas shopping still needed to be done. We usually stayed in the Little America hotel, and if Dad was feeling well-off, we'd even get a room in the tower. Occasionally, we'd stay in the Marriott for convenience as it pretty much connected to Crossroads mall. I don't know exactly how old we were when Mom and Dad let us have complete freedom, but I remember walking the 6 city blocks from Little America to the mall with just my brothers and not thinking anything of it...we're my parents TRYING to get rid of us. I couldn't have been more than 10 or 11 years old. I guess they did tell us to "stick together."

So we watched the weather and made a reservation at the new Hotel Young. It's a 5 star joint, with all the warmth and hospitality and sugar cereal of a friend's home. About the weather - it had to be perfect because I have a clinical phobia of bad weather driving.

They were ready to party the moment we got there, so off we went to Temple Square via the TRAX.

The lights were awesome as were the crowds and the cold.

Since leaving KY, we all have been craving Chic-fil-a and BW3s. We made sure to schedule it in on Saturday.

And we hit a joint that was equivalent to Gattieland for some afternoon fun for the kids.

That night we left the kids to fend for themselves as the adults hit dinner and a movie. That was sushi for me and Cam and nachos and a slushee for the ladies. We're trying to broaden their tastebuds, but meeting resistance at every turn. We had an awesome time with the Youngs and look forward to this tradition for years to come.
