Hiked the Orderville Narrows for the first time thanks to an invite from the Simister family. We had a great time. The Laynee and Drew did very well, only complaining about how long it took to finally come to our first water hole.
Once we hit water, the kids were all loving it. It was one swimming hole after another. It really did remind me a lot of hiking the Subway - just a lot longer and more swimming.
So pretty and such a nice day to hike.
Hiking the Narrows truly tested the fortitude of my ankles. Riverbed the whole way.
Laynee found a little buddy along the way and managed to carry him for a good mile before she had to let'm go. He was slowing us down.
Drew just loving the swimming.
So the Narrows was Monday. Tuesday was a surprise birthday party for Laynee.
When planning a surprise party, there is a delicate balance between telling everyone far enough in advance so they can plan ahead and be there vs. waiting to tell the guests so there's less chance of leaking the surprise. We were able to strike the balance, because she was surprised. The above picture is capturing Laynee just as she walks into the pool area and everyone is singing Happy Birthday.
Summer nights at the city pool = good times (and a lot of Hot Cheetos for Laynee). On a side note, we have been home for a year and had to move to another home this past week. With a lot of hard work on Shana's part and some very good friends who were willing to serve, the relocation went off without a hitch (besides the trailer). And finally, Seth and Drew took part in the heatstroker DSC baseball camp this week and loved staying up til midnight playing baseball.

You're Welcome for the picture of Laynee walking into her party. We took one more picture after that and then the camera fell into the pool. Camera gone. But card recovered. At least we got to be there.
