Winding down the school year

This post, in subtle ways is a tribute to mothers.  

 I had to get this one into the books - Drew at a Court of Honor.  Admittedly, scouting has not been high priority, but Drew enjoys it and is making his way through the ranks toward Eagle.  He is also serving as his troop's Senior Patrol Leader.  When things need to get done in scouts, it's Shana that helps Drew get it done.   My mom was no exception - she earned her Eagle 3 times. 

 This epitomizes the end of the school year - late nights on big projects and a loving mother helping out.

 I know my mom has anchored many projects - she can probably pull them out of her closet and show you.

 Ah the boys of summer.  Baseball is definitely the sport of choice right now.  The boys play it anywhere they can - indoors and out.  My mom never minded us playing baseball in the basement...(probably because she never came down to assess the damage).

 This game is taking place with Drew's soccer buddies.  In fact, Drew and a few of his soccer buddies have even been coming to and participating in some of Seth's baseball practices

 This is a Mother's Day letter from Jack.  My favorite answer is #3, and #4 is to score brownie points, and let me know if you need a translation of #6.

 Laynee had her Track and Field awards banquet and got to replace a couple class and school records.  Her mile PR at this point was 5min 20sec (Freshman record) and her 2 mile PR at this point was 11min and 32 sec (DHHS record).  The reason I say "at this point" is that she beat both of those times later that week.  Shana was there to support her while I was...

 ...finishing up Seth's Dixie Little League season.  It took the love of a mother (and grandmother) to sit through some of those games. 

 This brings us up to this past weekend.  My family was spread all up and down the state.  On Friday night, members of my family were sleeping in 4 different cities.  We were between South Jordan for Drew's State Cup soccer tournament and Provo for Laynee's State Track meet.  This is after Laynee's first race, the mile, where she was ranked 9th and came in 6th place which put her on the podium, earned a medal and shaved 6 seconds off of her PR which will now have to be reprinted on her school's record board to read 5min and 14 seconds.

 That was a fun race.  She also PR'd by one second in the two mile the next day just missing the podium by a few seconds.

 While we were up north, Seth was home and hanging out with the McArthurs playing in a baseball tourney.  Those are a couple of baseball junkies.  They did awesome...so we hear.  We can't be everywhere.

 The DHHS girls track team brought home a second place trophy while the boys team earned the first place trophy.

Guess what?  It's now Cross Country season!  Time to start running...again.
